Recent major failures of high-profile structures in the U.S. have brought attention to the national issue of rapidly deteriorating infrastructure. Traditional methods of evaluating concrete structures have been expensive, inefficient, dangerous, and subject to human error. The good news is that technology is advancing to meet the need for accurate, cost-effective, and nondestructive condition assessment of existing structures. For concrete structures, a variety of nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques can be effectively used to diagnose causes of deterioration in concrete and accurately assess the condition of the structure.
Take a closer look a current NDT techniques used in the condition of concrete structures with Braun Intertec Concrete Technical Leader, Alf Gardiner, PE, LEED AP, and the Vice President for the Building and Structure Sciences (BaSS) group, Tim Tonyan, PhD. This webinar will include discussions of limitations of traditional techniques such as ground penetrating radar (GPR) and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), and present emerging trends using ultrasonic phased array technologies.
