Braun Intertec, a Minneapolis-based engineering, consulting and testing firm, is pleased to announce the hire of Transportation Construction Services Quality Manager,Matthew Semerad. Semerad has significant experience providing quality management services on large-scale projects, specifically for industrial and heavy civil clients. In addition, Semerad will be responsible for training staff regarding quality practices, specifications, and material testing and sampling.

His extensive experience delivering quality management services will help us better meet our client’s needs,” says Jon Carlson, Braun Intertec CEO.

Over the course of his nearly 20-year career, Semerad has successfully developed and executed numerous project and program quality management systems such as ISO 9001 compliant systems and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 3 Phase Control systems. Semerad has deep knowledge of quality management systems and alternative delivery methods such as design-build and public-private partnership. His previous experience includes projects with the Alberta Ministry of Transportation, Suncor Energy, Shell Global, the Bureau of Reclamation, Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), Pennsylvania DOT, and Massachusetts DOT.

Semerad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from the University of Minnesota. In 2009, Semerad won the notable American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Excellence in Utility Accommodation and Relocation award for his utility design coordination on theI-35W bridgereplacement project.

MPCA Announces Vapor Intrusion Stakeholder Advisory Group

In March 2018, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) announced the formation of a Vapor Intrusion Stakeholder Advisory Group to provide input to the MPCA as they develop its best management practices (BMPs) for vapor intrusion mitigation of commercial and industrial properties in Minnesota.
